The Team

Academics, Artisans and Industry Aficionados Augmented by AI--At Your Service

Meet the CoAxiom Team

We're a small, multifaceted team of experts in design, software engineering, industrial safety, literature and academic research using AI to accelerate production for our clients while maintaining professional quality standards.
We focus on providing high-quality manuscripts and promotional materials at unprecedented speed and for far less than competing services--but unlike content mills with faceless contractors, we carry out all our projects in-house to ensure each one is up to the high standards we hold our work to. That means making sure that every aspect of every project gets reviewed and polished by people with the expertise necessary to make them shine. If it's a grant proposal, we ensure it has been extensively worked on by our accomplished grant writer; if it's a novel or short story, you can rest assured it will have been rigorously edited by our resident Ph.D in literature; if it's an SOP or technical document, it will be thoroughly vetted by our experienced safety professionals. Visual promotional materials will be created by our talented and experienced artists and media specialists. And any interactive materials--be it a web page or a browser game to draw attention to a client's work-- will be meticulously constructed by our veteran software developers.
In this way, we feel we're using AI the way it should be used: as a tool to be paired with human expertise and insight to benefit people's capacities for creative production...rather than a crude replacement for them.
And because we're structured as an equal-partnership LLC, every person on this page is an owner invested in your success—not hourly contractors looking for their next gig.

The history of every art form shows critical epochs in which a certain art form aspires to effects which could be fully obtained only with a changed technical standard"

-Walter Benjamin, 'Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction'

I have already referred to an interesting view of language made by a cybernetically-minded philologist—that speech is a joint game by the talker and the listener against the forces of confusion.”

-Norbert Weiner, 'The Human Use of Human Beings'

Robert Gillespie, Ph.D

CEO, Senior Software Engineer & Lead Editor

Robert's career path is a bit unusual: he went from teaching literature at a Big Ten university to building educational software to founding CoAxiom. But that combination of academic rigor and technical innovation is exactly what makes CoAxiom work. With a Ph.D. in Literature from the University of Iowa—home to one of America's most prestigious writing programs—and experience teaching as a Visiting Assistant Professor, Robert personally oversees all academic manuscripts and high-level creative editing. He knows what makes scholarly writing work because he's lived it: teaching graduate courses, publishing research, navigating peer review. When he reviews your grant proposal or academic manuscript, you're getting feedback from someone who's been in the trenches of academic publishing, not just read about it. When he reviews your creative work, you're getting the perspective of someone who studied the masters of the art for a living. (and somehow lived to tell the tale) His transition to software engineering means he actually understands how AI works and where it falls short. In the course of his transition he met the rest of the CoAxiom team, and together with them built CoAxiom around a simple idea: AI can accelerate the grunt work of drafting, but human expertise is non-negotiable for quality. Robert bridges that gap personally, making sure every academic project that leaves CoAxiom meets publication standards.

  • Former Visiting Assistant Professor of English
  • Senior Software Engineer specializing in educational technology
  • Published academic and technical writer

Josh Webb

CFO & Project Manager

Josh keeps CoAxiom's projects on track and our clients happy—whether that's a complex NSF grant proposal or a comprehensive safety manual. After more than a decade managing everything from software launches to manufacturing operations, he knows how to get things done right and on time. His grant writing expertise isn't theoretical: as co-director of grant writing at The EARTh Center (an NSF-funded advanced technology education center), Josh drafted successful federal grants and guided them from idea to implementation. He knows what funders want to see and how to position your project competitively. Josh's lean manufacturing background also makes him our go-to reviewer for industrial safety documentation. He's worked the shop floor, understands OSHA compliance from the trenches, and can tell the difference between documentation that looks good on paper and documentation that actually works in practice.

Key Credentials
  • 10+ years project management experience across multiple industries and academia
  • Co-Directed the EARTh Center and ATEEC, two NSF grant-funded ATE insitutions
  • Expert in grant proposal writing, submission, and orchestration
  • Lean manufacturing operations background
  • Expert knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and industrial safety compliance
  • Specialization in technical documentation review and quality assurance
  • Systems-focused approach to complex documentation projects

Tyler Halterman

Lead Technical Artist & Design Consultant

Tyler is the rare artist who's equally comfortable drawing by hand and building in 3D—and he's been doing both professionally for over a decade. Whether you need a hand-illustrated book cover or custom 3D assets for a Unity game, Tyler's got the skills and the portfolio to back it up. With a formal art degree and experience spanning game studios, universities, and publishing platforms, Tyler knows what makes visual content work across different media. His background will allow him to see beyond just the process of creating pretty pictures, and understand how art serves your project's goals, fits your brand, and connects with your audience. His teaching background also makes him an excellent editor. When Tyler reviews creative work, he brings both an artist's eye for aesthetics and an educator's instinct for what makes content clear and engaging. Plus, his technical expertise means custom artwork integrates seamlessly with our Unity WebGL experiences—no awkward handoffs between art and development teams.

  • 10+ years professional experience in technical art and 3D design
  • Portfolio includes game studios, educational institutions, and publishing platforms
  • Expert in both traditional illustration and digital 3D asset creation
  • Teaching experience in art and design fundamentals
  • Proficient in Unity integration and interactive media development
  • Bachelor's degree in Art

Dan Dennison

Executive Vice President of Design & Technical Artist

Dan's been a technical artist for over a decade, which means he speaks both languages fluently: creative (design, aesthetics, user experience) and technical (code, optimization, implementation). That bilingual ability is why client projects at CoAxiom actually come together smoothly instead of getting lost in translation between art and dev teams. As a United States Air Force veteran, Dan brings military-grade attention to detail and a deep understanding of what government compliance documentation actually requires. He's not guessing about standards—he's lived in environments where following procedures correctly wasn't optional. This makes him particularly valuable when clients need technical documentation that meets strict regulatory specs or government agency requirements. Whether Dan's creating 3D assets, reviewing safety procedures, or solving a technical problem nobody else can figure out, he brings the same disciplined precision. Beautiful work that actually functions? That's his specialty.

  • United States Air Force veteran
  • 10+ years professional technical art experience
  • Expert in both software development and 2D/3D asset creation
  • Deep knowledge of government documentation standards and specifications
  • Specialization in procedural documentation for regulatory compliance
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear procedures

Justin Chenoweth

CTO & Technical Artist

As CoAxiom's Chief Technology Officer, Justin is the person who makes sure all the technical pieces actually work together. Book cover design? Check. Responsive website to showcase it? Check. Interactive Unity experience embedded in that website? Check. Everything playing nicely together on desktop, tablet, and mobile? That's where Justin's multidisciplinary expertise comes in. His skill set spans software engineering, graphic design, and web development—which means he can design your book cover, build your website, and create an interactive promotional game without passing the project through three different vendors who don't talk to each other. It's all coordinated, all cohesive, all working. Justin's manufacturing industry background also gives him practical knowledge of industrial safety and compliance documentation. Like Josh, he's not just reading OSHA standards—he's seen what safe operations look like in practice and knows how to write procedures that actually help workers stay safe while getting their jobs done.

Key Credentials
  • Chief Technology Officer with full-stack development expertise
  • Multifaceted skill set: software, art, design, and web development
  • Manufacturing industry veteran with safety compliance knowledge
  • Expert in responsive web design and user experience
  • Proficient in Unity WebGL development and interactive applications
  • Deep understanding of OSHA safety standards and documentation requirements

Jason Paul

Executive Vice President of Safety Training

Jason is our safety compliance authority, and when he reviews your safety documentation, you can trust it's going to hold up under scrutiny. With over 20 years of hands-on experience in industrial safety training, he's not learning about OSHA standards from a textbook—he's applied them in real manufacturing environments where documentation errors can mean citations, injuries, or worse. His comprehensive knowledge of OSHA and ANSI standards has been tested in the field: developing safety programs, conducting training, responding to incidents, preparing for inspections. Jason knows what compliance actually looks like in practice, not just what it says in the regulations. Through his active involvement in ASSP (American Society of Safety Professionals) chapters nationwide, Jason stays current on evolving regulations and industry best practices. When you choose CoAxiom for safety documentation, you're not just getting AI-generated templates with a quick glance-over. You're getting Jason's expert review, ensuring every procedure is compliant, practical, and implementable on your actual shop floor.

  • 20+ years professional safety training and compliance experience
  • Expert knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and industry-specific safety standards
  • Active member and networker within ASSP national organization
  • Proven track record developing and implementing safety programs
  • Specialization in manufacturing, construction, and industrial safety
  • Real-world experience translating regulations into practical procedures
  • Authority on safety training effectiveness and adult learning principles

His dual expertise in software development and visual design means he coordinates seamlessly between our art team and our developers, making sure your project maintains creative vision while meeting technical requirements. Marco's also our secret weapon for quality control. His meticulous copy-editing catches errors everyone else misses—seriously, no misplaced comma is safe. That attention to detail extends beyond punctuation: he spots technical issues before they become problems, identifies optimization opportunities, and makes sure promotional campaigns and digital platforms run smoothly. When clients hit technical roadblocks ("Why isn't this working?" "Can we make it do X instead?"), Marco's the person who figures it out. He combines technical problem-solving with enough design sense to ensure solutions don't sacrifice aesthetics for functionality.
